  • An earned doctorate from a regionally-accredited university with an emphasis on understanding how learning occurs and is best designed, such as curriculum and instruction, education, psychology, or a related discipline.
  •  A minimum of five (5) full-time years of significant, progressively-increasing responsibility in college/university settings and/or higher education, including direct supervisory experience.
  • A track record and broad portfolio of demonstrated successes in innovation and learner achievement.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of instructional design, curriculum trends and design methods, as well as teaching and learning andragogy and strategies.
  • Previous experience in online education and working with adult learner populations.
  • Previous college-level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience with workforce education priorities including, but not limited to, non-credit/credit career pathways, stack-able credentials, credit for prior learning, and work based learning experiences such as internships and apprenticeships.
  • Documented experience in developing learner support programs.
  • Ability to operate independently (leading, collaborating and executing) in a highly ambiguous, matrixed environment with high interdependencies.
  • Intellectual curiosity, keeping abreast of best practices in higher education.
  • Be a doer, focused not just on thought partnership but on getting things done and executing both independently and with others.
  • Able to use data to inform insights and evaluate outcomes and impacts, constantly learning and obsessing over a better way.
  • Lead by listening, be highly collaborative, and productively contribute opinions to critical decision making processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with competency based education.
  • Demonstrated experience with regional and programmatic accreditation.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical, organization, and presentation skills. 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Documented participation in data-driven program review and institutional planning processes. 
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.  
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with educational technologies.
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.

Many of our positions, including this role, are designed to be remote "home office" settings.

Employees working out of a home office are responsible for providing an appropriate and safe office space, office furniture and organization, communication tools, and related items. These include: 

  • arranging for high speed internet connection, printer and a dedicated phone line for business use. Specifics regarding expense coverage and reimbursement vary based on individual position categories. Capella will not provide office equipment or on-site set up assistance.  
  • the environment must be free from distractions and enable a highly productive and professional work environment.  
  • as with on-site positions, our off-site positions require that the majority of the time will be spent using a telephone, PC and monitors. 
  • any and all daycare arrangements must be made so that employees are not working while providing care for children or other family members at home. 
  • there are minimal lifting requirements unless otherwise noted.
